Sometimes the small and delicate things in nature are the most powerful. I wanted you to feel the essence of Hawai’i and how such a simple shot can evoke so much emotion. I used a narrow focal point, just giving a hint of focus, so your eye can travel from the foreground, feel the petals, then look back out through the frame into the distance. The calmness of the green leaves, splashed with the contrast of the orange and red hues of the flowers, gave this composition a painterly feel.
